So recently my coworkers have been giving me a hard time because I've been in my office for over a year, but haven't really made the place "home" with any decorating touches. Which inspired me to create some canvas art, which I saw a few months ago on the pink cricut website.
Supplies you need:
Canvas (this is a 12x12 that I got from Michaels)
stencil (I used my CRICUT {Damask Decor cartridge} and permanent vinyl)
paint (I used acrylic paint in tan and purple)
paintbrush
First, paint your base color- if you don't mind the color of your canvas, you can skip this step.
I wanted my piece to have a distressed look, so I just sort of slopped the paint on, leaving spots that are not covered well
Allow time for paint to dry!
Next put your stencil over your design. BY using the vinyl, I was able to stick it down really well, which led to clean crisp lines (I think I cut this design out somewhere between 10 and 11.5 for a 12x12 canvas)
Cover your canvas with your other color of paint, making sure to get good coverage in the parts that show Again, let it dry
After the paint has dried, go ahead and peel off the stencil. The next step is to use a little sandpaper to rough up the edges... I actually sanded over the entire picture but it is hard to see!
As a finishing touch, I spritzed all over the canvas with glimmer mist. Unfortunately the spritz bled into the canvas, so it wasn't a splattered effect, but more splotchy- but it still looks cool!
The finished project, plus 2 more... can't wait to hang them up!
